@TheRealJ_B@stephen_r_hines@OldSkoolMTGLive Yes. The relevant rule is rule 608.2h.
(I previously mis-cited rule 603.10a. 603.10a says that leaving-the-battlefield triggers look at last information from the battlefield. That’s for cards like Dingus Egg, not Haunting Wind. Sorry for the confusion.)
Glorycon was awesome!
This was my version of Andy’s and my joint spice project, my version was slightly more blue.
2nd pic was a stellar opening hand.
3rd pic was a wild game where I had to use Gauntlets to give my opponent my Black Lotus to steal his Nev Disk. What a wild deck!
Here is my version of the deck @RagingRiverMTG and I piloted at Glory con. 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ stay tuned for article exploring deck brewing, play interactions and theory. We definitely did the most damage that day. Somewhere upwards of 74 billion. lol. #oldschoolmtg
@stephen_r_hines@OldSkoolMTGLive Thanks! Yeah we thought of Basalt Monolith, but that doesn’t work with this combo since you can’t untap it (to activate again) until its ability resolves, so you can’t put 1,000 activations on the stack, the same way you can with Knowledge Vault.
@stephen_r_hines@OldSkoolMTGLive Further, if that artifact is sacrificed or Shattered after my opponent controls it, the game looks back and deals damage to whoever last controlled it (Rule 603.10a).
However, if my Vault is Shattered before the exchange of control resolves, then I’m screwed.
@stephen_r_hines@OldSkoolMTGLive “That artifact’s controller” refers to the player controlling the artifact *when Haunting Wind’s trigger resolves.* Who controlled that artifact when Haunting Wind originally triggered is irrelevant.
@stephen_r_hines@OldSkoolMTGLive You activate Vault 1,000 times, holding priority, and then as the last step, you activate Gauntlets to give control of the “Haunted Vault” to your opponent. The damage is dealt to the controller of the artifact at the time each Haunting Wind’s trigger resolves.
Got there at GloryCon run by @atog67 Amazing event! Had some tough competition. @RagingRiverMTG and I had to do something no one has ever done in #oldschoolmtg (I’m willing to be proven wrong)

@Tzen1 Yeah, juzam and Ernie for sure would be banned. The idea is to ban all the cards everyone sees all the time. Say, the top 100 most played cards. Ban enough cards that people are motivated to play Abomination and Feral Thalid instead.
There are 969 legal Old School cards.
If you review the last 5 yrs of tournaments, players in Top8 used the same 75 cards or so—less than 8% of the available card pool.
RT if you would be interested in trying a new “Unplayables” format which bans the top 10% of the OS card pool.
@stephen_r_hines@SaysPeach@MusicCityOS Yeah, I’m just working off the only data I have. But you get the idea. I want to see a meta with Seasinger, Xira Arien, Righteous Avengers, Fire Elemental etc. 1.5 and R40 I think are similar to this. Just would love something to bring attention to the “junk” cards in ATQ LEG FE
There are issues. No disenchant, shatter or divine offering doesn’t work. But the goal would be to curate a list that can create a meta that is more akin to how Pauper feels in modern magic. Pure Pauper doesn’t really work in Old school, bc commons like Bolt & Hymn are too good.
