Students are on ground zero, because Modi Govt is now using these much-respected universities as propaganda outlets to bully them.
Instead of making Dharmendra Pradhan resign and then start a meaningful discussion on the Education System, Modi-Shah have resorted to denigerating our centre's of learning.
Now you know why our youth are on the streets.
Now you know how BJP damaged the Education system in the past 12 years!
This govt has inverted the incentive structure on its head. The more ignorance, superstition & bigotry you display, the better your prospects in life (and in the party). The smarter, better informed & more educated you appear, the more likely your downfall.
When the spell of fear fractures, the politics of resistance begins. Jantar Mantar wasn’t just a protest—it was India’s youth reclaiming the national agenda.
Sawal ye nahin ki janata khari hogi ya nahin, sawal sirif itna hai ki jab janata khari hogi tab tak kahin ham toh nahin baith jayenge.
Janata was standing. And so was I.

In my latest #TharoorThink column in the @IndianExpress, I discuss the government’s mishandling of the student protests this week and demand an urgent course correction. Our students should not be battered and bruised in the streets before their voices can be heard in Parliament.
From 2024: On elections and exams
"So a collapse in trust in the exam system is tantamount to a collapse in trust in the system as a whole. Imagine a day where trust in the UPSC exam collapses. More than a revolution, that might make the Indian state collapse."
@ambedkariteIND The Supreme Court may not obliged to grant an urgent hearing.
Justice isn't only about the final order. It's also about ensuring citizens feel they've been heard.
India's budget reflects its priorities.
Over the last 12 years, the Education Ministry's share of the Union Budget has fallen from 4.6% to 2.5%, while Road Transport & Highways has grown to 5.8%.
ONLY Better roads matter???
But India's biggest long-term asset isn't concrete, its the #students and the young people #GenZ.
You can't build a developed nation by underinvesting in education and skills.

The education budget has halved under Modi and the meager amounts have also gone towards Hindutva propaganda in textbooks and syllabus. It is not about Pradhan, the destruction of modern education is Modi's personal project since 2014.
Reports of large-scale paramilitary mobilization are deeply concerning. The state must NOT attempt to crush peaceful protests through a brutal crackdown. The government should meaningfully engage with the students and take concrete steps to address their demands for accountability - only way a democracy can function.
