National Security Adviser Mallam @NuhuRibadu and his UK counterpart Jonathan Powell jointly led the 4th UK–Nigeria Security and Defence Partnership Dialogue in Abuja yesterday.
The meeting highlighted Nigeria’s push to build stronger global alliances as part of a wider plan to tackle modern security threats.
Nigeria and the UK have a long-standing relationship based on shared values, common interests, and years of working together. That history is now supporting deeper cooperation in areas like defence, intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism, cybersecurity, and other key security sectors.
Under President @officialABAT , the Federal Government has been rolling out a wide-ranging, coordinated plan to fight terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other crimes. Since today’s threats often cross borders, Nigeria has stepped up work with international partners while also rallying local agencies to boost the country’s security strength and coordination.
As NSA, Mallam Ribadu has been central to pushing this plan forward. He’s helped rally global support for Nigeria’s security work and is driving a “whole-of-government” approach at home. His leadership has brought better cooperation between security agencies, stronger ties with allied countries, and a steady focus on making Nigeria’s security system more effective.
The UK–Nigeria dialogue shows that joint action and strategic partnerships are still vital for dealing with complex security challenges. It also underlines Nigeria’s commitment to using global cooperation, shared intelligence, training, and joint operations to improve national security results.
