The banana peel you tossed on the trail is going to get a bear killed.

Every single apple core and orange peel left on a trail teaches a nearby bear that human hiking trails are a food source.

In bears, it is almost always fatal.

Wildlife managers have a phrase for it: "A fed bear is a dead bear."

Once a bear associates humans with food it keeps coming back. It gets bolder. It approaches campsites. It gets too close to people.

At that point there is no rehabilitation, no relocation that reliably works. The bear gets euthanized.

The bear didn't do anything wrong. It learned exactly what we taught it.

Leave no trace means leave no trace.

Pack it in. Pack it out. Every time.

Genuinely true. I didn't have an MECFS diagnosis OR knowledge of my schizophrenia when I met Joe. He married me despite MECFS and while that has kinda fucked us for my SSI (no gay rights for the disabled!).... he also has never wavered at all despite LITERALLY SCHIZOPHRENIA.

I also cannot overstate that when Joe and I met, I was Going Through It schizophrenically and we just never knew that's what my brain was on, he just accepted the Raile that I was then and he still loves the Raile that I am!! What the FUCK!

So we're breaking things down into small pieces and playing a lot of focus games, etc.... the current schedule is minimum 3 days of public training a week, at least 2 Known Places indoors and at least ONE distracting outdoor environment. Obviously with different levels of demands

He struggles MUCH more outdoors, which is PROBABLY because we haven't been able to train much outdoors for a few months and now he has to re-learn that outdoors isn't JUST parking lots, and his job isn't an Indoor Job, it's an Everywhere Job.
