Moved to Colorado with my husband and now we get to enjoy all our holidays without drama, drunks, or racists. Suddenly I don’t dread the holidays anymore, and it’s healing my inner child.
ever since i got married i found out you could enjoy holidays with family and just have a great time, and that it didn’t have the be the most stressful time ever where everyone got 10x meaner and i just think it’s lovely to not dread holidays anymore

The smartphone really revolutionized the waiting room. Oh I get 20 minutes to look at my phone? Don’t mind if I do. The only problem is sometimes when I’m looking at my phone at home my home starts to feel like a waiting room and I realize it is and I’m just waiting to die
Mississippi police shot and killed a 1-year-old child who was in the car with his mother.
Autopsy reports reveal the child was shot through the side of the car, contradicting officers' claims that the car was heading towards them.
R.I.P. Akihiro Miwa (1935–2026), legendary chanteur, actor & drag queen. Star of Terayama’s "La Marie-Vison" and Mishima’s "Black Lizard", Miwa survived Nagasaki and championed pacifism. Miwa also voiced Moro in MONONOKE and was among Japan’s first openly gay public figures.
Ranchers have sabotaged Colorado’s wolf reintroduction, like every other wolf reintroduction, baiting them with sheep that they neglected to death and shooting them when they came to the dead pile.
Then they cried to @COParksWildlife, who killed off the wolves for them.
People with children should be louder about Meta glasses. Do y’all understand that anyone could be recording your child without you knowing? And that footage could end up anywhere?
That little rock stack in the creek probably felt harmless. I get it. People see flat rocks, build a tiny tower, take a picture, and move on. It feels like nothing.
But in a stream, rocks aren't toys and decorations: they're crucial habitat.
Dragonfly larvae cling to them. Caddisflies build around them. Mayflies, stoneflies, water beetles, snails, crayfish, salamanders, fish eggs - all kinds of tiny stream life use the cracks, shadows, undersides, and flow breaks around those rocks.
Before dragonflies ever become the thing you see flying around your yard, they spend most of their lives underwater as predators. Some species stay there for years. They eat mosquito larvae, midges, and other small aquatic animals long before they ever grow wings.
So when a rock gets pulled out of the creek and stacked on the bank, whatever was living on it or under it may suddenly be exposed to air, sun, heat, and predators.
One person stacking three rocks destroys an entire stream, that's the wrong way to think about it.
But that the habit scales badly. One person does it. Then another. Then twenty people do it. Pretty soon a living creek bed has been rearranged into somebody's little art project.
And for bigger animals, the stakes can be even higher. Hellbenders, North America’s giant aquatic salamanders, live under large flat rocks. Males prepare nest spaces under them and guard the eggs there. Move the wrong rock at the wrong time and you killed a nursery.
This isn't about never having fun outside. It's just one of those small things we can stop doing once we know better.
@RoyIsThaTruth If the count was off, they found who was below water and dived in to save them. Given this system, you could find a struggling swimmer within 15 seconds underwater. There was 0 chance of a drowning occurring on our watch. My heart breaks for this baby. The adults failed him.
@RoyIsThaTruth I worked at a YMCA summer camp for 3 years, and there is 0 excuse for a drowning. It is negligence. We had counselors assigned to campers in the water at all times. There was always a counselor on deck watching from above who did nothing but count heads above water constantly.
Imagine killing a baby because you assumed the mother stole a pack of diapers, only to learn she paid for them. How do you justify that level of anti-Blackness? This is what happens when suspicion is weaponized against Black people.
A 1-year-old in Mississippi was shot and killed by police after a cop opened fire on a vehicle involved in an alleged shoplifting incident at a Walmart. An adult was also critically wounded.
A witness says they saw 2 women leaving the store with an infant, Kohen Kartier Wiley, and a box of diapers. Relatives deny that Wiley's mother and aunt were shoplifting, with some saying they had a digital receipt on a phone.
This is a national tragedy.
The officers knew about Kohen Kartier Wiley being in the car before they opened fire.
Firing into a moving vehicle in a crowded parking lot over a non-violent offense is both criminally reckless and completely unjustified.
RIP Kohen Kartier Wiley
