Something I think is notable about Val and Angel’s relationship that not a lot of people pick up on is that Angel ISN’T ALWAYS terrified of Val.

Sometimes he’s comfortable for small pushback, or even light joking.

It’s only after he recognizes Val is angry does he get scared.

My biggest critique about modern Pixar or whatever is that the stories they end up making now tends to boil down to the "lived experience" of an over-achieving kid going to a $30k a semester top animation school at 17 and hired right out of college and moving to California at 21
