Who, if I cried out, would hear me among the angels' hierarchies?

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Breath, you invisible poem. Constant interchange between our clear being and the worldspace beyond our seeing in which I rhythmically Become

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

All creation holds its breath, listening with me,
because, to hear you, I keep silent...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Only the ripe fruit of the here and now that has been seized and bitten into will spread its indescribable taste in us...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Everywhere stillness, yet in this abeyance:
seeds of change and new beginnings near...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Memory won't suffice here: from those moments
there must be layers of pure existence
on my being's floor...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

We're all falling. This hand here is falling
..And yet there is Someone, whose hand's
infinitely calm, holding up all this falling...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

After all, life is not even close to being as logically consistent as our worries; it has many more unexpected ideas and faces than we do...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Beyond all names I am yours, and have been for ages...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Sieh, nun heißt es zusammen ertragen

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Even the farmer who works and lives
where seeds transform themselves to summers
never does enough. The Earth just gives...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Jubel weiß, und Sehnsucht ist geständig, -
nur die Klage lernt noch...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Rejoicing knows, and Longing has allowed, -
Lament alone still learns...

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

We know little, but that we must trust in what is difficult is a certainty that will never abandon us

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

Art is not to be understood as a selection made of the world but as its entire transformation into magnificence.

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

No longer do I try to recognize you, when, as a surging wave, something is about to manifest

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

You, stars, is it not from you that the lover’s joy in the beloved’s face rises?

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

And when the earthly has forgotten you, say to the quiet land: I flow. And to the rushing waters speak: I am.

[rainer maria rilke @rainermrilke]

understanding everything-no, but to begin, but to love, but to be connected to what is remote and inexpressible, all the way up to the stars
