Award-winning authors of Raising Real Men, No Longer Little, and the best seller Love, Honor, and Virtue; their latest book, Peace in the Family is coming soon!
@mattvanswol@libsoftiktok We homeschooled all eight of our kids from the beginning and they are wonderful successful adults now - that have a great relationship with us and with each other. It's a really good option.
Did you know C.S. Lewis predicted the modern obsession with “being nice” would destroy the soul?
In The Abolition of Man, Lewis argues that when a society stops believing in objective virtue, it doesn’t become tolerant… it becomes manipulable.
He calls the result “men without chests.”
People with appetites and intellects, but no courage, no honor, no trained moral instincts. They can calculate everything and defend nothing.
Lewis saw that once we reject inherited moral law, we don’t become free. We become raw material… easily shaped by propaganda, pleasure, and fear.
Modern man prides himself on compassion while quietly surrendering every standard that once gave compassion meaning.
Lewis’s insight is brutal: a civilization that educates clever cowards will eventually be ruled by tyrants or technicians.
Because when nothing is worth dying for, everything becomes negotiable… including human dignity.
@audrawrongspeak So true. We homeschooled all eight of our kids and their love of learning, social confidence, and strong character has amazed me. Why do we think kids have to be educated in factories to become good humans? They don't!
@Katalyst_Off @teachthemx3 There's research showing that homeschooled graduates are at or more successful than institutional school graduates in socialization and community engagement.
@LibTearCreator1 Every day for 30 years as much as I'm able. Sometimes I get interrupted or just forget, but reading the Bible is as necessary as physical food for a Christian. It helps me to do it first thing, before I do anything else, especially check my phone!
@snarwani It absolutely blows my mind that someone associated with Oxford could be absolutely ignorant of really basic world history like the fact that Islam was founded over 500 years after Christ.
@matt_vanswol All eight of our kids, mostly adults, are Christians and have become amazing people. Hearing how you are leading your family to church and to the Lord is a blessing and I know from experience it's something you will be very thankful for when they're grown.
“I went to church for the first time on Saturday.. I had never been to church before. I had never owned a Bible. But after everything the happened to Charlie Kirk, I had a spiritual awakening.”
Revival continues to spread!! 🔥🙏🏼👇🏼
"Get every high school and college student hooked on a product, then convert it into an infinity-porn engine" is the most evil business model anyone's devised since the North Atlantic slave trade.
This is so true! Come to church - you'll be very welcome and you'll find things you won't find anywhere else. We have a new podcast going up tonight on how to get started going to church - finding one, what to expect, how it all works.
@TaraBull808 The 40s were great for us! The two of us had the best ever mid-life crisis that resulted in us starting our own business and becoming authors and speakers. The 40s are a great time to reflect on what you want to do with your life and to start doing it!
@matt_vanswol @TaraBull808 Or homeschool. North Carolina is a great place to homeschool your kids. We have good laws, a large homeschool population, and terrific support networks in NC!
Lots of people "returned" to church today for the first time or for the first time in a long time. Some of you had less than positive experiences. I get it. We have moved often, and it's sometimes a struggle to find a church that feels like home. Here are some suggestions:
- Pray and ask God to lead you to the church family that will nurture you and provide a way for you to serve as well.
- Read about the church on their website. Pay close attention to what they believe. Read between the lines. Believing that the Bible is the inerrant word of God is one thing we always look for.
- If possible, maybe attend on line before you go in person to make sure it's suited for you.
- When you do attend in person, smile; be friendly.
- If you have kids, look for an active kids' program that works for the ages of your kids now and as they get older.
- Don't give up. Churches are made up of people, and there are no perfect people.
@mkhammer This is something I worried about a lot when my father died when I was 14. I was afraid people would think I didn't love my dad if I smiled or laughed. People have no business judging someone grieving for finding a bit of joy in a dark time!
