Eventually I just booked a last minute Indigo flight Hong Kong from Delhi.
I believe I should get compensation for this terrible hassle which is almost entirely Air India's fault from the start.

Had to go through the most horrible experience with @airindia . I booked connecting flights from Mumbai to Delhi - - > Delhi to Hong Kong. The flight to Delhi was delayed by an hour and when I reeached Delhi, the flight to Hong Kong had left without me (and other passengers).

Air India staff took 3 hours to get my luggage, and booked a place for me on a Cathay flight to Hong Kong. When I reach the Cathay counter, they tell me that they don't have a seat. There's no way to reach the Air India staff who sent me there because I'm in Departures now.
