On August 3, a Parliamentary Committee endorsed what the government proposed in Bill No. 85 of 2026: the power to exempt companies with up to Rs 200 crore turnover from statutory audit under Section 139 of the Companies Act, 2013.
Let me say what our elected professional leaders will not.
This government is legislating the profession out of existence and calling it reform. 🧵

@Dhairya__tweets If you don't keep the balance in savings bank, they will charge minimum balance default, and if you keep savings there you will be taxed at normal slabs.
Funny incident from today...
A salaried client walked in, completely panicked. He had some Business Trust income but had self-filed an ITR-1. Yesterday he received a Defective Return Notice.
So, naturally he asked me to fix it.
I quoted my fees. His instant reply was "But sir... everything is already filled. You just have to add the Business Trust income. I'll pay fees only one-fourth of that."
I smiled and said, "Sure. First, show me your Form 64B."
He looked at me and asked.. "What's Form 64B?" We opened his email, found the Form 64B, and I pointed at it.
I said, "These 5-6 columns... if you can decode what each one means, where each figure goes in the ITR, how it should be reported and taxed... you can file it yourself."
Silence.
Then came the classic...
"Sir... you do it."
Some ITR filers think they pay us for entering data.
No.
Clients need to realize that they pay us for knowing what to enter, where to enter it, and what happens if it's entered wrong.
Professional fees are not just an expense.
More often than not, they're an investment in getting it right the first time and avoiding a much bigger cost later. 🙏
🚨 RBI Should Provide an Option to Close Bank Accounts Online Without Any Branch Visits
We Can Open Bank Accounts Online with eKYC
But Most Banks Don't Let Us Close Them Online
This Problem Needs a Big Reform in Banking
Ever wondered why the government keeps extending the Old Tax Regime despite pushing so hard for the New Regime?
The standard explanation is "taxpayer choice," but one of the overlooked reasons might lie deep within Section 10(17) of the Income Tax Act.
Let's look at the math and the mechanics.🧵
Biharis have paid the ultimate price for their pathetic lack of sub-nationalism.
Bihar today exists for two shameful purposes only:
1. Supplying cheap, desperate labour to build the skyscrapers, factories and dreams of the rest of India while its own villages and youth rot.
2. Delivering 40 Lok Sabha seats to national parties that treat the state like a vote bank and nothing more.
In return? Zero. No industries worth the name. No world-class education or sports infrastructure. No special packages that actually transform the state. Just crumbs, lectures and mockery.
The rest of India is perfectly happy with this colonial arrangement. They get hardworking Biharis to do the dirty work at low wages and reliable political support without ever having to invest seriously in Bihar’s future.
Why would they want a strong, assertive Bihar that actually demands its due?
Talents like the 15-year-old phenomenon #VaibhavSooryavanshi are living proof. A once-in-a-generation batter forced to carry Bihar’s flag in domestic cricket while shining for Rajasthan Royals and chasing national dreams.
How many more such prodigies will we lose because Bihar offers them nothing but poverty, migration or broken systems to fight against?
Unless Bihar breaks this cycle of exploitation and self-sabotage. Unless it develops unapologetic Bihari sub-nationalism that puts its own people and future first, its brightest stars will keep suffering, migrating or being wasted.
The nation is happy to harvest Bihar’s labour and votes. It’s time Bihar stopped being the willing doormat.
I’m watching Game of Thrones for the first time. Tell me something that won’t make sense to me right now, but later I’ll be like, “Ahh, now I get it!” 😄
1. Just got off a call with @UnSubtleDesi. I couldn't be happier for her and both of us couldn't help but discuss the harrowing days of post poll violence in West Bengal in 2021. So I am going to share what happened five years ago just so ppl know what happened. #WestBengal2026.
