Congress was denying that Sonia Gandhi opposed the singing of the full Vande Mataram.
But the visuals say otherwise: she was seen making gestures as the full rendition continued. Congress can spin it however it wants.
Have a problem with Modi? Fine. But if you have a problem with Vande Mataram, you seriously need to introspect.
That’s one reason you’ve been out of power for a decade.
In Prayagraj, a young man was fined ₹6,000 by the police for irregularities in his license plate and for riding a bike without a helmet.
Afterward, as he was leaving the spot, he noticed the same policeman who had issued the fine riding a motorcycle on the road without a helmet. Seeing this, the young man became upset.
He asked the policeman to stop and said, “Sir, you fined me, but you are also riding without a helmet.”
The policeman replied, “It’s alright, I got away.”
The young man responded, “How is it alright? You should be wearing a helmet too.”
After that, the policeman allegedly tried to snatch his phone, and the young man said, “Please talk from a distance, sir. Since you fined me, you should also be fined.”
This incident highlights how some policemen are quick to advise others to follow traffic rules but fail to follow the same rules themselves.
Such individuals should also be held accountable under traffic laws.

In defense of Indian 🇮🇳 democracy!
During Prime Minister Narendra Modi most successful visit to Norway a minor incident happened. A Norwegian journalist demanded that the prime minister starts holding press conferences. She claimed that Indian democracy is in bad shape.
May be its time to pause? May be its time to be a bit curious to the world’s largest democracy?
Two weeks ago five Indian states and territories held elections. The turn out in the battlefield state of West Bengal was 94%. In the last local election in Norway it was 62%, in many European local elections turn out is below 50%. Can voting in massive numbers be a signal Indians trust their democratic process?
In the same election BJP won big in Assam and West Bengal. It lost even bigger in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Can this diversity be a signal that Indian democracy is reflecting the will of the people?
The journalist referred to a democracy ranking putting India at 157 in the world, behind many dictatorships and deeply troubled states. When a ranking is so obviously contrary to common sense, why not ask critical questions to those making the ranking rather than demand that leaders shall comment on nonsense? I recommend Salvatore Babones book “Dharma democracy”. The book debunks convincingly the flawed methodology of these rankings.
It was referred to a ranking claiming it’s very dangerous to be a journalist in India. Reality is that it is more dangerous to be journalist in the US and far more dangerous in the vast majority of other nations in the world.
Let’s be real. India is not perfect. Of course there are incidents. India has a population the size of North America, South America and Europe combined. But India is much more peaceful than Europe or the Americas. That’s remarkable - given the ethnic, language and religious diversity of India and the many development challenges.
Unless we consider democracy a form of government only suited for some very small, peaceful and homogeneous Western European nations, may be we should commend Indian democracy?
India is the only major former UK colony which became and has remained a democracy. Its sometimes claimed that the Brits taught India democracy. If that was the case why isn’t Myanmar or Pakistan or the Gulf kingdoms democracies??? Reality is that Indian democracy is both homegrown and extraordinary successful.
Great Nicobar is much more than just infrastructure; it is about securing vital global trade arteries, addressing energy security, and building long-term strategic resilience.
➡️ In an increasingly contested Indian Ocean, this project positions India as a key maritime player.
➡️ It combines economic ambition with national security priorities while promoting sustainable development.
➡️ As supply chains face rising risks, proactive steps like this are essential.
India is wisely turning geography into strength. The future impact on regional stability and prosperity will be significant.
#WATCH | Delhi: National Human Rights Commission Member, Priyank Kanoongo says, "We received information from a think tank organisation named the 'Namo Foundation' indicating that, across private schools nationwide, pressure is being exerted to purchase additional books from private publishers along with the curriculum and syllabus prescribed by the NCERT and SCERT... We have taken cognisance of this matter and have issued notices to all state governments... The curriculum ought to be determined by the academic authority. At the national level, the NCERT serves as the academic authority, while at the state level, it is the SCERT... Instead of charging parents exorbitant sums for books from private publishers, why can't these schools simply provide students with the very same NCERT and SCERT books at a reasonable cost?... This practice is deemed a form of educational discrimination and will not be tolerated in India under any circumstances... We have also sought clarification from the Union Ministry of Education regarding the basis upon which examination boards in the country are prescribing textbooks for primary classes—a function that falls within the purview of the academic authority. Furthermore, we have requested clear directives from the Ministry of Education, urging them to issue explicit instructions to the respective state governments regarding this matter..." (22.04)
People avoid govt schools despite paying taxes and an education cess, because the system has failed to earn their trust. Private schools exploit this compulsion. With no real alternatives, parents are squeezed and intimidated.
Here, a principal from a reputed private school in Hardoi is berating parents for buying books from a cheaper shop instead of the school’s designated vendor. The insulting tone, “shut up,” “naam kaat do”, says it all.
Almost everyone with power in India abuses it to bully those without it.
