मुंबईत रोज ८० लाख लोक लोकल ट्रेन वापरतात.
९ लाख मेट्रो वापरतात.
३० लाख लोक बेस्टने प्रवास करतात. टॅक्सीबाबत आकडेवारी उपलब्ध नाही.
आणि, खाजगी गाड्यानी १५ लाख लोक प्रवास करतात.

असं असताना, १४,९७७ कोटी रुपये खर्च करून १०.९७ किमी कोस्टल रोडची दक्षिण बाजू बांधली आहे, जिचा वापर फक्त खाजगी गाड्यांनी प्रवास करणारे करणार आहेत.

वास्तविक मुंबई ची जीवनरेखा सार्वजनिक वाहतूक आहे, पण तिकडे लक्ष नाही.

कोस्टल रोडवर दुचाकी, रिक्षा आणि अवजड वाहनांना प्रवेश नाही.

२००४ ते २०२४ ह्या वीस वर्षांत लोकल ट्रेन्स मधून पडून ६६,५०० लोक मृत्युमुखी पडले आहेत. त्यात सुधारणा करणं प्राधान्याचं नाही का?

ह्याच लेखात हिशेब दिला आहे, खाजगी गाड्यांसाठी १०.५८ किमी चा कोस्टल रोड बनवायला जितका खर्च आला तितक्या खर्चात १२ डब्यांच्या १८० एसी ट्रेन्स विकत घेता आल्या असत्या. हा एक साधा हिशेब. अर्थात त्यानं इतक्या नव्या ट्रेन्स सुरू करता येतील असं नव्हे. बेस्ट बाबतीतली आकडेवारीही फार महत्वाची आहे.

This is not an isolated case. Across the state, public funds are being misused under the guise of various schemes. The names of schemes may change, but the pattern of corruption remains the same.

Vasai-Virar Floods: A Disaster Created by Poor Urban Planning?

The recent floods in Vasai-Virar have sparked serious concerns over unchecked urbanisation and the destruction of the city's natural drainage system.

According to environmentalists and local experts: • Nearly 70% of the city was submerged during the recent heavy rains. • Wetlands, salt pans, mangroves and natural water channels that once absorbed excess rainwater have been encroached upon or built over. • Rapid concretisation and large-scale construction without adequate drainage planning have severely reduced the city's ability to handle heavy rainfall. • Residents argue that what was once flooding in a few low-lying pockets has now become a city-wide crisis due to years of planning failures and administrative neglect.

Many believe the flooding is no longer just a natural disaster, but the result of human-made environmental degradation. Experts are urging authorities to protect remaining wetlands, restore natural drains, remove encroachments and prioritise sustainable urban planning to prevent such disasters from becoming the new normal.

महाराष्ट्राची घसरण ही विरोधकांची टीका नाही, तर वस्तुस्थिती आहे. अजूनही वेळ गेलेली नाही. पण त्यासाठी आत्मपरीक्षण आणि जबाबदारी स्वीकारणारे नेतृत्व लागते, जाहिराती नव्हे.

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has assured a special joint meeting of all concerned departments to discuss a permanent solution to the recurring flood crisis in Vasai-Virar, following a request by MLA @snehadubepandit

The MLA also urged the government to grant 4 days of special paid leave to private employees, industrial workers, and teachers affected by the floods and called for a long-term flood mitigation plan to prevent annual disruptions, including repeated railway service interruptions.

महसूल मंत्र्यांची घोषणा: "राज्यात शेतीची जमीन खरेदी करायची असेल तर ती व्यक्ती 'शेतकरी' असणे बंधनकारक आहे. यापुढे शेतकरी असल्याचा वैध पुरावा दिल्याशिवाय राज्यात कुणालाही जमीन खरेदी करता येणार नाही."

वस्तुस्थिती: शेतजमीन फक्त शेतकरीच खरेदी करू शकतील अशी तरतूद महाराष्ट्र कुळ आणि शेतजमिनी कायदा, १९४८ अन्वये २८/१२/१९४८ पासूनच लागू आहे. त्यात नवीन काही नाही. त्यात नवीन काही नाही. मी नाशिक जिल्हाधिकारी असतांना या तरतुदींचा वापर करून शेतकरी नसतांना हजारो एकर शेतजमीन खरेदी करणाऱ्या विरुद्ध कठोर कारवाई करून शेतकऱ्यांना दिलासा देण्याचा प्रयत्न केला आणि ते प्रकरण जमिनीचा महाघोटाळा म्हणून देशभर गाजले होते. सामाजिक स्मृती अत्यल्प असते.
