Kendine iyi davran
You know how nobody really takes pictures of stuff they think will always be there? That's probably why you've got a thousand vacation photos, but barely any of your childhood kitchen. On just a regular Tuesday, you snapped pics of birthdays, Christmases, and the first day of school, but not your dad chilling in the same chair every single night. Not the sound of your mom coming home, or the view from the backseat when you were too little for the front. It's because none of that felt important at the time. It was just life. Then one day, out of nowhere, the furniture got moved around. Someone sold the house. You stopped riding in the backseat. And just like that, that whole ordinary world was gone. I think that's one of the weirdest parts about getting older. You don't just lose people; you lose whole versions of the world that only existed because those people were right there in the room. And somehow, the things you thought would stick around forever are the very things you barely captured at all.
"It doesn't matter how many years you lost....Save the rest of your life."
No regrets about the past, and time to look ahead.
Make the rest of your life what you want.
suddenly, we have drones, facial recognition, and all kinds of high tech surveillance tools at disposal when it comes to monitoring and suppressing protesters, but somehow none of that urgency, technology, or resources seem to exist when it comes to keeping women safe.
The people are united. Detained protestors are repeatedly being released by the people on the streets!
Jantar Mantar 2.0 is on!
Gyanesh will soon be gone!
Every time the Sensex falls, Modi govt gives the same answer - global factors. Oil, wars, the Fed. Never its own decisions.
But global factors did not write India's last 5 Budgets. This govt did.
In 2004, UPA govt made a clear bargain with investors. No long term capital gains tax on listed shares & in its place a small Securities Transaction Tax. One tax. Simple and predictable.
In 2018 Modi government broke that bargain. LTCG came back at 10%, but STT was never withdrawn. Since then, investors have paid twice on the same trade.
& since then taxes have moved in only one direction -
🔹LTCG raised to 12.5% in 2024
🔹STCG raised from 15% to 20% in 2024
🔹STT on futures raised from 0.01% to 0.05% since 2023 fivefold increase
🔹STT on options raised from 0.05% to 0.15% a threefold increase
Share buyback proceeds brought under capital gains tax in 2026
When the latest STT hike was announced on Budget Day this February, the Sensex fell more than 1,000 points in a single session. Broking & exchange stocks fell as much as 6 to 8 %
Today the Nifty is below 23,000, roughly 13% under its 52 week high of 26,373. Foreign investors are pulling money out. Crores of retail investors, who were told the stock market was their way to share in India's growth are watching their savings shrink while the tax on every rupee they earn, trade and withdraw keeps rising.
Singapore does not tax capital gains on shares held as personal investments. India taxes the gain taxes the transaction, taxes the dividend & then adds surcharge, cess, GST and stamp duty on top.
And while capital at home is taxed at every step, an Indian conglomerate has just announced an $18 billion investment in United States with its chairman crediting President Trump for reviving manufacturing in America.
A government that wants Indian savings & foreign capital to build the economy cannot keep raising the price of entry.
Markets fall for many reasons. Raising taxes at every turn is the one reason entirely within this government's control.

How does one get away with this? It's obviously the same business - if a call gets missed, try again with a different number. Seriously?
As one with young kids & aging parents, seeing '5 missed calls', is scary AF! But hey, yahan sab chalta hai, right?
