During my residency my senior had yelled at me and my co-PG right in the center of the ward. All the attendants and nursing staff saw that.
I didn't say a word. I had tears in my eyes. I went into the duty room and did console myself. At that very point I hated him like anything and later after consoling myself I said that I would never ever do anything of that sort to my junior. It feels humiliating and does destroy the confidence.

Such feedback has to be one to one and away from wards. Learnt it from my HOD who would always praise in front of everyone and if someone scolds you or you are wrong. He would correct you in person and send a cheerup message personally later. He recently became the Director of AIIMS Kalyani.

Fast Forward.
My senior finsihed his MCh. We had no hard feelings. But randomly he called me once and said sorry for what happened that day coz it stayed in his head for so many years even after passing out.
Each one of us may be going through various situations in life and it may lead us to act in way we won't like.
If we are good to juniors, the respect grows multi folds and inspire them to be a better person. I always connect often with that senior of mine and we share a good bond.

Also, if we get it wrong. We can always apologize irrespective of seniority 😇
