Saddened by the martyrdom of two brave para-commandos from our Bengal, who succumbed while braving extreme weather during an anti-terror mission in Anantnag in Jammu & Kashmir.

Salute to our Lance Naik Sujoy Ghosh from Birbhum and Lance Havildar Palash Ghosh from Murshidabad for their exemplary valour, dedication, and supreme sacrifice to defend our country.

My heartfelt condolences to their families and friends. Our Government will extend all possible support in this hour of grief.

Heinous crimes like rape demand the harshest condemnation, and the toughest laws. Yet the @narendramodi Govt. has chosen delay over duty. More than a year since the Aparajita Anti-Rape Bill was proposed, the @BJP4India at the Centre has done nothing to convert words into law. This is a political choice with deadly consequences.

When the state that controls the levers of power refuses to act, it sends a signal to predators to act with impunity. That tacit backing, a silence that equals consent, has emboldened the most depraved in society to prey on our daughters, sisters and mothers. The moral bankruptcy of a Party that postures about “Nari Suraksha” while blocking real reform is laid bare.
