Before you throw away that chickpea liquid from the can… you might want to read this. 👀
With certain eggs currently being recalled because of possible Salmonella contamination, this is a good time to remind everyone that the liquid inside a can of chickpeas is called aquafaba—and it can replace eggs in many recipes.
Use:
🥄 3 tablespoons aquafaba = 1 whole egg
🥄 2 tablespoons = 1 egg white
🥄 1 tablespoon = 1 egg yolk
You can whip it, whisk it or mix it into:
• Cakes, brownies and cookies
• Pancakes, waffles and muffins
• Meringues and macarons
• Chocolate mousse and whipped desserts
• Vegan mayonnaise and salad dressings
• Frosting and other baked goods
It’s plant-based, naturally cholesterol-free, useful for many people avoiding eggs—and it turns something most of us pour down the drain into an actual ingredient. Just remember that it replaces eggs functionally in many recipes, but it doesn’t provide the same protein or nutrition as an egg.
So the next time you open a can of Goode Foods Chickpeas, eat the chickpeas—but save that liquid. There’s still plenty of Goode left in the can. ♻️🫘
