Seeing a lot of insecurity on the TL over GTA 6 being eligible and likely winning GOTY at The Game Awards

GTA 6 is a 2026 game which is qualifying for the 2026 Game Awards, within the standard eligibility window.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with your favorite game this year getting beat out by another 2026 game. It's been a great year for games and GTA 6 coming along to sweep it does not in any way take away from all of that, 2026 is being capped off with the biggest release pretty much ever. You can disagree with the business practices, I do too. But none of that takes away from the quality of the game itself, which looks to be impeccable.

If GTA 6 wins GOTY, then its deserved after 8 years of work from over 4000 developers working on this game. If it doesn't and the game isn't as great as we thought it would be, thats okay too! I'm sure the winner will be another game that deserves it in that case. In all cases, GTA 6 not being allowed to even be nominated would've been a huge mistake as I believe all games from a specific year, should qualify for that TGA. Just like the Oscars. And thinking that TGA would be better off without GTA 6 being nominated, just shows a high level of insecurity.

@noelle_xiii If it wins any, it deserves them. The amount of work put into this project is insane. Also I’m pretty sure everyone was looking forward to see gta6 at the game awards. If they didn’t people would’ve been left wondering
