Ambassador Jing Quan expects us to believe that the Chinese government bears no responsibility for a racist video published by China Daily.

REMEMBER: China Daily is not an independent media organization. It is owned and operated by the Publicity Department of the Chinese Communist Party. Its editor-in-chief holds ministerial rank. It is, by design and by law, an instrument of the Chinese state.

The Ambassador says, “there are so many medias in China, we cannot ask each media… to try to control.”

This is a laughable statement from a government that operates the most comprehensive media control apparatus in the world — one that censors individual social media posts within minutes, bans Facebook and X entirely, and imprisons journalists at a rate unmatched by any other country. Beijing controls what 1.4 billion people can read every single day. It cannot now claim helplessness over its own flagship state newspaper.

We also note the double standard. When a caricature surfaced online, the Chinese Embassy lodged a formal diplomatic protest and demanded an apology. Yet when its own state media dehumanizes an entire nation of 115 million Filipinos with colonial-era racist imagery, the response is a shrug: “no, no, no.”

This is not an isolated editorial lapse. It fits a documented pattern of foreign information manipulation and interference — illegal, coercive, aggressive, and deceptive conduct — directed at the Philippines for asserting its lawful rights under UNCLOS and the 2016 Arbitral Award.

The Filipino people deserve better than denial. If the video truly does not reflect the Chinese government’s position, the remedy is simple: take it down, and apologize!

Sobrang sensitive ng Beijing sa global image nila kaya gigil sila manakit ng sundalo sa Ayungin Shoal para i-try na baliktarin yung narrative na sila talaga ang biktima.
