My time as an ER nurse ends today. I’m sad as I can’t really imagine myself as any other kind of nurse. However, I’m excited to learn a new set of nursing skills. So, here’s to learning new things half-way through my career!
"RNs worked 400,000 hours of overtime last year. That’s 100,000 more than the year before.
Mandatory overtime, extended shifts, upwards of 24 hours. How is this sustainable?
This would not happen in other industries. Or in male-dominated professions." @yvette_coffey#RNU22
@rlegrow I’m an ER nurse and just got home from a shift. I feel mentally and physically broken. It’s just not possible to provide care they way people so desperately need it. 18 years in and I want out of this profession.
@RobertB81604105@CBCNL Sadly, this is not localized to this particular government. The doctors that were there, left. Unless one can knit a few doctors who want to work in Whitbourne, there’s not much else you can do. They’re having a devil of a time trying to staff the bigger centres.
@WildBill500 @Ontario_RN @BlytheMcKay @Kapur_AK I’m an ER nurse of 18 years. I love ER nursing. My salary, and supporting my children, is the only reason I haven’t left the profession.
@KarlaHayward I struggle with this constantly… there is nothing, imho, that can ever be done or said to make reparations. I get physically ill at the thought of anyone taking my children and committing these atrocities. How could humans ever do this to other humans?
@nationalpost I honestly don’t know any nurses who will quit over a vaccine. We had to get or be up to date on a whole list of vaccines in order to attend nursing school
@mongolord3 @BrianBa29754267 @CBCNews ER nurse here… when we enter nasopharyngeal swabs, there is a long list of viral pathogens that it is tested for… last year, in NL, I’m not aware of any influenza. The test does differentiate, so you are correct.
@adelaid84706125@renmt41@CBCNL Smallpox was eradicated in the late 70’s, therefore not a current threat such as covid. Measles outbreaks also not at a Covid level threat currently. Most children are vaccinated against measles, therefore herd immunity already exists.
