I haven’t slept properly in 7 nights.
Every match from Washington to Toronto started at midnight or 1:30am in Nigeria.
I stayed up anyway.

My mum and siblings started noticing the light under my door.
Now the whole house knows her name.
Friends are DMing me: “Who is this Alex Eala girl you’re obsessed with?”
Then the loss in Toronto hit.
Messages of consolation flooded in.
Eala Mania took a hard L.

Today my annoying chef cousin Zee cooked my favourite meal as a “sorry you lost your queen” special.
It was actually fire.
I still don’t know much about the Philippines…thanks some Filipinos
but I’m definitely exploring the culture now. Salamat 👏🏼

All eyes on Cincinnati.
Then the US Open.
Something tells me a Grand Slam is coming a lot sooner than people think.
Worth every sleepless night.

Sorry... but I have to say... I feel like Alex prefers the traditional Pinoy crowd. Bahala kayo jan mamulis at tawaging squammy mga utaw but I do believe the energy of her crowd really kept her going. As many tennis superstars in the past have said.. your crowd can really take you to victory even when you are at the brink of losing a match.
