@lapsu for back compat outside of semantics, just as the PUT receiver should ignore extraneous fields, so should the subsequent GET. in practice, that means there's no way for a client to know which fields are accepted. usually there's a shared schema or api doc published separately
@lapsu if a subsequent GET returns the data provided to the initial PUT, you haven't broken semantics. there is no backward compatibility provision in play. the only real semantics is 201 for newly created vs 200/204 for updated. more at https://t.co/gGbtTezeNY
