2) Congress handles have always crossed the line. They need to be made to taste their own medicine.

3) I’d have a problem if BJP handles only trolled and stopped posting BJP's achievements and informative content. But that’s not happening. Trolling is just an extra activity; their regular informative posts are still going on.

4) This kind of trolling will help them gain reach, and that reach can eventually help their informative posts get more traction.

Few months back, Somali immigrants were caught stealing millions of $$$ in US from welfare programs for feeding kids!

Not saying that all Somalis are bad (of course not), but the Somalian immigrant community easily overcame the PR disaster. They campaigned, they lobbied, they refused to tolerate attack on their reputation.

Meanwhile, Indians have been able to do basically nothing about prejudice and hate we get.

Surely, nobody thinks the Somalian govt (if it exists) is capable of putting together a proper PR campaign or hire lobbyists.

There is just something other nationalities do right when it comes to protecting their reputation in the world.

And for some reason, we Indians do it wrong.

His regular bail has been rejected multiple times by the judicial system. Courts from the lowest trial level all the way to the Supreme Court have looked at the evidence, witness statements, WhatsApp group logs, call records, and repeatedly concluded there is a clear prima facie case against him. The Supreme Court specifically pointed out that he stands on a completely different footing as a prime orchestrator, refusing to let him off.

One thing that always surprises me about American politics is how parties are never scared of losing elections.

Neither parties, nor their voters.

This means parties get to boldly try their ideas in full. The policies that work get to stay. The policies that don't work get tossed out. This actually makes America effective.

In India, everything is always a compromise. Every plan gets watered down to almost nothing before it is actually tried.

For example, Trump is really unpopular right now. And Republicans somehow don't seem to care. They are doubling down on their policies.

It was the same way with the Democrats and Biden. They knew they were leaking votes, they didn't care.

Don't get me wrong. Of course, politicians always like to win elections. And politics always has compromises everywhere.

But in India, political parties live in some kind of mortal fear of losing elections.

Americans are more sanguine about this. They know political power goes around in circles. Your team might be unpopular now and leaking votes. Perhaps the other team will come to power. Never mind, they will make mistakes too. They will lose votes, and soon power will circle back to you.

Of course, this is mostly because Americans have been doing this democracy thing a lot longer than we have.

In the 1800 presidential election, Thomas Jefferson defeated the sitting John Adams and became President. It was the first time in history that someone sitting in power was removed by power of votes

That was 226 years ago!

But some of this is also because of the long shadow of the Congress dynasty. For 40 years after independence, India kept one family in power. Some could say they were in power, with minor interruptions straight from 1947 to 2014.

An unprecedented shame in the history of democracy.

And this trauma has consequences.

BJP is in power today, but lives in extreme fear of losing an election. Their leaders grew up seeing the dynasty always in power, unshakeable like the sky. What if the dynasty comes back?

Many core voters of BJP think the same way. If BJP loses an election, what happens? Will the country go back to serving another 3 generations of Rahul Gandhi's family? How long will they rule this time? Beyond the year 2100?

The thought creates a shudder.

Perhaps the answer to this really lies with younger voters. It still surprises me that there is an entire generation of voters that has only ever seen Modi as PM. They have no memory of Sonia Gandhi's dynastic rule.

And they have no fear of it coming back.
