How do you keep a promise made in your mother’s final moments?

For Sayaji Shinde, the answer was simple. You let it grow.

What started with planting 5,000 native trees in her memory grew into a lifelong commitment to giving back, just as she did.

In 2015, that promise took shape as Sahyadri Devrai, an effort rooted in the belief that a tree gives everything it has, selflessly, like a mother.

Today, that single vow has grown into over 6.5 lakh indigenous trees across 29+ locations in Maharashtra. Each sapling is nurtured for years, not just planted and forgotten.

By choosing native species like banyan, peepal and tamarind, these living Devrais restore ecosystems, support wildlife and revive a lost relationship with the land.

This is not just about planting trees. It is about love that outlives loss. And a promise that continues to breathe.
