What an outrageous manifestation of incomprehensible and unjustifiable cruelty it is to lure a helpless, trusting, friendly, gentle, and kind, poor, lonely, stray, starving kitten—which has only just started living—with food, solely for the horrific purpose of terrifyingly torturing it to a painful death using the most brutal methods! In general, I think any supporter of the strongest possible legal protection of animal rights would agree with this: no human has any moral right to act cruelly toward any animal. This applies not only to such a completely innocent, weak, and touchingly cute kitten as the one in Ankara—which already had to endure the hardships of life outdoors and suffered the most terrible tortures before its tragically untimely death—but also even toward any angry or hostile animal, since humans alone are responsible for the behavior of four-legged pets. Because domestic animals, by their very nature, cannot properly care for themselves, they are completely dependent on the goodwill of humans. Unfortunately, in reality, this goodwill is all too often saddeningly lacking or, worst of all, completely nonexistent. Surely, any person with even a shred of humanity could not calmly watch images of the cruel torture of angelically sweet domestic pets who have done no wrong to anyone. Moreover, by standing up to fight against the heartless, merciless abusers of our small, four-legged, and always unwaveringly faithful companions, all of us who are not indifferent to the suffering of innocent little souls are, at the same time, fighting for our own safety and the safety of all honest, well-meaning people. This is because frighteningly angry, uncontrollable, vicious, and boundlessly aggressive psychopathic sadists, as a rule, start their atrocities by killing, harming, and torturing animals. Very often, if they face no severe retribution for it, they later repeat the same—if not even more horrific—cruelties against human beings! It is fortunate that, in reality, we time after time still see completely different, positive, and touchingly beautiful examples of a spiritually inspiring, friendly mutual bond between humans and pets. Such is the case, for instance, in a video uploaded to Facebook titled "On a rain-splashed day, the little girl held the umbrella over her furry friend...", in which a small, tender-hearted Chinese girl shelters a tiny and sweet street kitten, gently and attentively protecting it from the pouring rain. Isn't that indeed a wonderfully sweet sight—to see two little earthly angels, the embodiments of the purest innocence, together in one and the same place? Another heartwarming example can be found in a hilarious, playful short video from Instagram, "Turkish politician interrupted by an adorable kitten", where an official of a Turkish metropolis feels no annoyance whatsoever when a tiny, sweet, and funny kitten, which suddenly appeared out of nowhere, climbs on him during work hours. This is something that we certainly cannot witness every day. Unfortunately, not only in China or, for that matter, in Turkey, but also everywhere else in the world, such touchingly beautiful manifestations of true humanity are a sadly extraordinary, hard-to-find rarity in present reality...
