Taxing AI profits to fund UBI/UHI sounds good in theory, but it’s a big mistake.

Directly or indirectly increasing taxes on projected AI earnings now would stall the massive capital investments required to bring the benefits of AI to society in the first place and will effectively kill the R&D race. Corporations are making massive bets right now—if you cap the upside, you stop the progress.

A more sustainable solution for employment shifts:

Extend/enhance unemployment benefits gradually using revenue from current tax structures as profits rise. Use the surplus revenue governments will naturally receive from increased corporate efficiency under existing tax laws for enhanced unemployment benefits.

Let the "AI Deflation" work: As costs of goods approach zero existing safety nets will go much further and provide a higher quality of life.

Transition the workforce by encouraging direct or indirect investment in the growing economy. Encourage more people to participate in the growth as investors, rather than just recipients.

Don’t break the engine of growth before it starts. Market competition—not premature taxation—is the best way to maximize the wealth created by AI for everyone through competition and lower costs.

I still don’t get why this is such a hard decision for some.
This deal is great for Tesla shareholders!
Musk gets paid only if he grows Tesla’s value by $7+ trillion in 10 years — no cash, just stock. He hasn’t taken any real pay for years, and most of what he earns he says, would toward pushing humanity to Mars and beyond.
If he succeeds, that’s massive new wealth for shareholders, suppliers, the U.S., and the world. If not, shareholders lose nothing.

@elonmusk Great presentation! As you proposed, we can get to zero net emissions by 2030, but how can we remove excess CO2 that is already accumulated in the atmosphere? Can you design, engineer, manufacture and sell small machines that extract CO2 (and other pollutants) from the air too?
