Priest CofE; chaplain; @lycigtweets; musician. Magnificat respecter, Sacrament adorer, wife guy. You are my neighbour! Sorry about the noise. Not here much now.
One thing the EHRC has not been quizzed on is how this stunningly flawed "guidance" fundamentally makes applying for a GRC completely impossible, given that it requires trans people "prove" they live as their gender. How can you do so if you can't access gendered spaces/services?
Terfs call disabled toilets a 'third space'
- because they think it's where everyone they're uncomfortable with should go. The less-than-human space. Hidden away.
‘Being harassed by men in public is not dangerous and is funny actually!’ is an INCREDIBLE cope for the ‘we have made it terrifying for literally every trans, disabled, GNC, older or basically just non-supermodel woman to use a public bathroom’ brigade
For all those excited at the thought of women with short hair being excluded from the Ladies, yes, sometimes we're challenged. No, it's never an issue once we speak or the challenger has a proper look. They apologise, we laugh. All good. No-one dies: we are women, not snowflakes.
Being trans gives you a very dark window from which to look out at humanity, where even something supposedly sacred and inviolable like the love of parents for their children turns out to be deeply contingent and subject to whims
This is a perfect, unarguable demonstration that when people object to terms like ‘birthing people’ it has NOTHING to do with concerns about erasing women (who are specified throughout) and is 100% entirely about denying the very existence of trans people.
So about 15 years ago I attended the breast screening clinic as I had a lump that had appeared in my chest.
It turned out to be benign breast tissue growth (gyno) and nothing serious.
Weird how I, a cis man, was able to attend this kind of service, but trans women now can't.
REV. BLACK (who was shot in the head with a pepper ball): “If this is what they’re doing to pastors, journalists, teachers, mothers, and the elderly gathered to sing and pray outside ICE facilities… what might they be doing to our neighbors who are behind those walls?”
@HarryDibbs_ To be fair, jumping to conclusions like that is a pretty understandable and natural thing to do when it’s a defence mechanism that can be the difference between being beaten up in public or not
A lot of people have been really hard on the ukhsa, but I don't think it's always fair.
They're still a relatively new agency, so I think it's worth taking a moment to highlight some of the considerable achievements of their brief history.

St Sophrony of Essex important advice for new converts—
“When someone who is not Orthodox comes to the Orthodox Church he must go through a furnace of repentance, of change and regeneration of his entire way of thinking and living.
This will take a long time. In order for someone’s positive attitude towards Orthodoxy to become an experience of his heart, he must lead a life of asceticism and crucifixion form many years under the guidance of an experienced spiritual father.
Otherwise the ‘old self’ will remain, with the result that unbelief and the inclination to go back to the old way of life will often occur.”
Conversion isn’t a “one and done” experience, nor is it solely an intellectual decision. True conversion to Christ is something that is ongoing, and it’s a path that I myself wander from non-stop. May God have mercy on us and always lead us back to the pathway towards communion with Him, no matter how far off the road we find ourselves.
*icon below is a commission I completed several years back for an amazing Greek hieromonk who was a disciple of one of St Paisios’ spiritual children.

We need to be soberly honest about what is happening before our very eyes.
9/11 was used as a pretext to invade Iraq.
10/7 was used as a pretext for genocide.
Vengeance rhetoric signifies escalation.
It’s amazing how many people think racism or misogyny spoken in a measured tone is dialogue, or worse somehow more Christian than justice spoken with urgency. Tone doesn’t sanctify oppression.
the liberal writer impulse to empathize with the least empathetic party in any situation has long ceased to be an exercise in compassion or humility, it is almost always a way for people to indulge in fantasies of being the most level-headed + benevolent person in the room
