SF was over if not for OpenAI and Anthropic!
Before that, it was over if not for Stripe, Uber, Airbnb, Twitter, Salesforce, Visa, Gap... and if you go back a bir further - Levi's, Bank of California, Spreckels Sugar, Wells Fargo, Union Iron Works, Southern Pacific :)
The city gets “saved” by the next boom every time. After the gold rush, there was silver, railroads, shipping, banks, sugar, utilities, Pacific trade, defense, semis, PCs, biotech, enterprise software, the internet, social, mobile, SaaS, fintech, crypto, and AI.
I think that's just how it goes in this town.
Google which is cash surplus, just announced an additional capital raise of $80 bn.
Google annual profit is $160 bn, last quarter $62 bn, and market cap $4.5 trillion. That is close to total profits and market cap of all Indian listed companies put together.
It’s a wake up call to all companies to invest into the future, whatever the present maybe.
Now that IPL is done and dusted, time for India to focus on business of business.
If there is one group in India I truly respect and admire, it is the Bajaj Group. They will deliver on this too.
+ Very R&D driven: go read about their Bajaj Pulsar DTSi & related innovations. Core auto tech
And yes, I like their outspoken-ness. Been a fan of the late old man!
@kejimao Let’s learn from China, collaboration with China will bring more values than confrontation. We are neighbours. Both countries needs to think from this lens.
To build even a single road in India, the contract is awarded -- depending on kickbacks, not competence.
People eventually become okay driving on broken roads. Or no roads at all. They are okay blending 30% ethanol and damaging their vehicles.
They adjust, accept the reality and move on.
We are not a free market.
We are a market protected by excess regulations.
Here, the government basically tells: where you can invest vs not. Anyone sharing contrary opinions is either a scammer or an anti-national.
Brain-rot is real. Corruption is the oil that now greases the machinery.
Cutting taxes is NOT going to bring FIIs back.
FIIs are investors.
They got choices.
Cut taxes-> FIIs book their profits faster. And, rightly so.

@nikitabier Funny, and also true. After all the smart frameworks about content, most of the internet is just us watching animals watch each other. Even I cannot resist a good cat video. Maybe that is the real algorithm.
This is beautiful sir. As a founder I learned the same lesson, only much later than you. Keeping every record clean feels like extra work in the moment. But the peace it gives you later is worth more than the money itself. You never have to remember a lie or fear a knock on the door. Honesty is the cheapest insurance there is.
@danmartell True. I write my three main tasks everyday, not on my phone. Something about the hand makes it stick. On the days I skip it, the day runs me instead of me running the day.
@kunalb11 True. The fear of looking foolish kills more ideas than failure ever does. The day I stopped caring how a bad idea makes me look, I started having more of them. Most are bad. A few are not. But you only find the few by not being shy of the many.
@elonmusk@SpaceX Congrats to the whole team. As a small founder I watch this and feel something. People said it could not be done for years. They just kept going. That part stays with me more than the rocket itself.
@PeterDiamandis Probably true. I watch young kids use AI today with zero fear. For them it is just there, like flipping a light switch. The fear is something only our generation will remember. Our grandkids will laugh at it.
