1/6 Happy Birthday Long Range Desert Group! On this day, June 19, in 1940 Ralph Bagnold wrote in his diary: ‘Put forward Libya scheme for the third time’.
Horrific plastic pollution of the marine food chain in my plankton sample. Fish like herrings and sardines that feed upon plankton now have microplastics in their food and so will the animals that eat them such as dolphins, seals, polar bears and seabirds. @zeiss_micro
The shocking extent of our microplastic pollution in the sea. An arrow worm in my plankton sample has died after trying to eat a blue, plastic microfibre that is just 8µm in diameter (0.008mm). @zeiss_micro
@warfareyo Ridge running up Channel and a decaying warm front across Wales. Unfortunately, without some sounding data, difficult to say. I’ll save that one, get some more info and add it to one of my lectures.
