Capcom's initiative is the future initiative of all large game companies. Engines will be AI driven, teams will shrink in some cases up to 90%.
What was a large team of artists + outsourcers will become a lead and 1-2 cleaners.
What was a large team of programmers will become a small group of architects.
Things AI is now good at:
1. Programming
2. Art (concept, 3D models, meshes, UVs)
3. Animation (partially, not fully)
4. Music
5. Localization
Things AI not good at:
1. Level design
2. Tuning
3. QA
4. UI/UX
Many people think AI can do QA. This is wrong.
I am having a lot of trouble with the AI animating wrists and elbows. I constantly have to tell it that the wrists cannot turn the way it is animating them.
It cannot QA this. If the AI was able identify that the wrist was turning incorrectly and QA it, the AI would not have made the mistake in the first place. The gauntlet loops never see it as a problem.
This becomes a catch-22. Which is why QA with humans becomes important.
