Deep rooted patriarchy ! Even when both partners work, many men refuse to let go of patriarchal habits or share domestic duties, and this is a major problem in our society today.

​Take my neighbors, for example-the husband is a graduate working as a clerk in a state government office, while the wife holds a postgraduate degree and works as a lecturer in a government engineering college. Despite her higher qualifications and demanding job, she still does all the household chores, from cooking to helping the children with their schoolwork. Their marriage remains intact simply because she has accepted these traditional expectations.

​However, younger, new-age couples are far less willing to accept this imbalance. Why should a working woman shoulder all the domestic responsibilities alone, or be forced to sacrifice her career to become a full-time homemaker? This unfair double standard is one of the biggest issues our society needs to address and resolve.

Having a determination for education is fine. But that was a time when schools were located only at the district headquarters. Poverty was such that one could not afford to go there and study.
