The subtle violence of neglect at IRCC: two years of delay for an ATIP request -- and then an email saying that, due to the long delay, the request will be deemed abandoned unless we tell them within 5 days that we still want the information.
Update re Zain Haq:
Zain was informed a few minutes ago by CBSA that his deportation has been CANCELLED.
Thanks to everyone who participated in this campaign. We are waiting for more info -- but what we know is that public advocacy is what ultimately stopped this deportation.
@irinaceric The Federal Court hears our stay motion today. If they declined to going to stay, immigration Minister Marc Miller can still step in.
If you are in canada, ask your MP to tell the Minister that he should take action now.
@MarcMillerVM Canada may not be in control of who is allowed out of Gaza -- but it is in control of who is on the evac list.
Pls don't blame others for your gov's failure to assist Canadians' loved ones. Expand the definition of 'family member' now. That is YOUR decision to make.
and (2) tracking these applications will allow us to advocate more effectively, both individually and collectively, for swift action to create and implement a reasonable policy.
The Gaza Family Reunification Project has produced this self-help guide to encourage Canadians with loved ones in Gaza to submit and track TRV applications.
Please feel free to spread widely.

Nonetheless, GFRP that (1) by submitting a TRV application now, family members will be best positioned to receive immediate processing when and if a new policy is implemented;
@smeurrens@AlCallinan Key additional factor: Applicant lives in the US and commutes to Canada, so will continue to qualify under rubric of 'temporary entry'. A tenured prof who is residing in Canada is probably still going to be expected to apply for PR under CEC.

Canada relies on migrant agricultural workers who came via streams designed to restrict PR access, and on tens of thousands of refugee claimants who work and pay taxes, while their refugee claims are evaluated. They should be included in this new policy.
@avnishnanda Doing legal work for the working class isn't a ticket to join the bourgoisie, but it's pretty easy to live comfortably. We need to encourage working class folks to become lawyers in order to wage class war, rather than as a pathway for class mobility.
IRCC allowing more family members of Yazidi refugees to be reunited in Canada. While a humanitarian goal, it is unclear why other groups who have faced serious persecution will not also benefit from this program -

Episode 2: #SpousalSponsorships#FamilyReunification and a great chat with my new friend @majidsid19. @ljansdan and I in a not-so-light episode on a painful experience many Canadian sponsors and their spouses are going through right now. #cdnimm

To understand Mpls, you have to know who Bob Kroll is, and about the fight for the loyalty of the rank and file MPD between official (and legit reform-minded) leadership and the fascist police union.
A former MPD chief leaks Kroll's letter to the union:
