@curxorai Straight docker. Lots of custom apps as well. I actually no longer even know what language they are written in. I just ask it to do things and it does them.
Quick update on my automated dog door. It is now working great. However, the dog now waits outside while we are gone so he doesn’t get locked in when the gate opens.
@carney This never made sense to me either. I mean, I hate property taxes and would like them eliminated but they have nothing to do with your mortgage.
@JoshuaBarzon@REFORMAMINI I’m a Christian business owner who started and runs https://t.co/gFnTbAKJqH. I design, 3d print and sell scale model rockets that you can fly. It’s been a ride!
@SuitSheep Finding a church is hard. I’ve seen every one of those you mentioned.
I’ve also been tempted to start inviting people over for a meal and start discussing scripture. Might be worth a try.
@MarkGrote If you look at 1 Timothy 2 in context, modestly is in contrast to extravagance. The point is about displays of wealth, not sexualized clothing. I'm not arguing for more skin, just pointing out that that's not the point of the verse.
This was not my experience but I’m not normal. My family visited a very Calvinist church for the first time a year ago and I did what I have done for other traditions. I talked to the pastor and got a sense of what they believed and why.
I decided to give Calvinism a fair shot. I read books by Calvin and other reformers, all the relevant bible passages like Ephesians 1, Romans 9 and John 6. I can confidently say I understand how reformed theology interprets scripture.
Then I did the same with non-reformed theology to see which one more accurately reflects the context and original intent of the authors.
I came away with a deep sense of how twisted and convoluted Calvinism and reformed theology is. This was NOT because I was hurt or angry at some pastor or church. It was an honest and sincere evaluation on merit.
@elonmusk You don't need to replicate everything. A searchable index of shopify, bigcommerce, etc stores with reviews (for social validation) would suffice. Then you don't need to handle the finances and logistics but can bring visibility to all the independent shops that already exist.
I was in San Antonio last weekend with my daughter and there was a guy yelling "the gospel" on a loudspeaker at everyone. I've been thinking about this guy ever since and why someone would do something like that.
To me it feels very counter productive in that he's causing people to be disgusted by Christians instead of showing God's love. I guarantee you the people around me were not drawn to Jesus because of his actions. Even someone like me, who believes, was put off by him.
Can you all help me understand why someone would do something like that?
@StickWithNate@bot@Texas_Twins_Dad I do. I've given it parameters for finding people to follow, who to follow back automatically, and who to unfollow. I don't use it for posting or replying though.
@khoingo That’s a good example. My contention is with those that drop a verse, or just a reference, with no explanation as though it completely closes the debate.
I'd like to introduce the phrase "verse slapping" into Christian discussions. We've all seen it where someone drops a verse, often out of context, as if it completely ends the debate.
Biblical authors didn't write verses, they wrote letters and epistles meant to be read and understood as a whole, in their historical context. I care about the truth but verse slapping is the worst way to get there.
Please don't verse slap me about why this is a bad idea.
@BernieDainton Yes! He's not on X but has an active Facebook page that you can see where he's going to show up. I was lucky in that I was driving from Dallas to San Antonio for a hockey tournament and timed my trip to correspond with his stop in Austin.
I appreciate this distinction and align pretty closely with it although I would still describe myself as a trinitarian. My caveat is that it's the best explanation I've seen yet on how The father, the son and the spirit are all described as the one God and yet are distinct at the same time.
Underlying that though I acknowledge that the trinity is an imperfect attempt to understand God and he may just be beyond our comprehension in this. I'm okay with that.
