THEY TRIED TO DO IT BEFORE! Back in 2001-2005, The Home Office planned to use the SAME MOD site in Bicester to house up to 3,000 single male asylum applicants. They had to stop the plans due to local backlash and costs. They already spent roughly £29.1M just prepping the paperwork.

🚨 Urgent Wildlife Alert: Protected Bats at Risk at Bicester MOD Site A 🚨

It is incredibly disappointing and deeply concerning to report that continuous, all-night floodlighting has been unlawfully switched on at Bicester MOD Site A—directly impacting a known habitat for protected bats.
Whether instructed by the Home Office or local MOD security, this action is a severe breach of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. All UK bat species are strictly protected by law. Introducing high-intensity, all-night lighting into their habitat isn't just disruptive; it can be fatal. It traps them in their roosts, cuts them off from their feeding grounds, and exposes them to predators.
What we are doing about it: Tim reported this incident directly to Thames Valley Police (TVP) via 101 last night. While we waited over two hours for a response before having to leave at 1 AM, we have officially escalated this to the TVP Wildlife Crime Officer and are currently awaiting their response.
Our wildlife deserves better. These laws exist for a reason, and those responsible must be held accountable.
