Unpopular opinion, museums should not have to close bc lack of funding. My taxes should be going to them and not some foreign country to bomb civilians
Having parents who didn't prepare you for literally anything in life, judging you for being "behind" as an adult is definitely a canon event for a lot of neurodivergent people.
AUTISM:
I wear the same outfit every day. It's one less decision.
ADHD:
I always want to buy something new.
AUDHD:
I buy new clothes and still wear the same comfortable outfits everyday.
Things about me that probably should've screamed autism + ADHD sooner:
1. If I'm going somewhere unfamiliar, I need to know where I'm parking, where I'm going when I walk in and what's supposed to happen once I get there.
2. I hate being watched while I'm doing things, and sometimes I literally cannot do the thing until the person leaves the room.
3. A last-minute change of plans can completely throw me off, even when the new plan isn't necessarily bad.
4. I can become completely consumed by a new interest for weeks or months, research everything about it, talk about it constantly and then suddenly lose interest.
5. I’ll listen to one song on repeat, eat the same meal for weeks or rewatch the same show because sometimes familiarity is exactly what my brain wants.
6. I can be looking directly at someone while they're talking and suddenly realize I haven't processed anything they've been saying.
7. I don't always recognize what I'm feeling while it's happening. Sometimes I don't understand my own reaction until hours or even days later.
I'm autistic and l have ADHD so...
• I'm not answering that call until l know who you are and why you're calling me.
• If you show up unannounced, I'm going to hide and not answer the door.
• I rehearse what I'm about to say and still don't say it how I planned.
• I read messages, respond in my head, and forget to actually reply.
• I have to give myself a 30 minute pep talk just to take a shower.
• I'm clumsy and don't even realize how it happened half the time.
• Silence isn't awkward to me... I actually prefer it.
Honestly, 30 is such a good age to start over. You know yourself better now, you’re less afraid to choose differently, and you finally understand what you actually want. 30 is not the deadline, babe. It’s just another beginning.
One of my favorite adhd games is “did I actually take that pill or did I just think about taking it” where you get to decide if it’ll be worse to have double your dose or none at all
