What is the difference between sharia and Christian teachings, canon law?

The question itself is wrong, because it assumes sharia is a religious body of law.

No: sharia is the constitution of the Islamic state.

Its true counterpart is the United States Constitution.

The difference between the Islamic state and a country like the United States is that Islam has no borders, it has frontiers.

In the eyes of most Muslims, the Islamic nation-states are a temporary arrangement imposed by the enemies of Islam, and they will dissolve when Muslims are strong enough to reestablish the caliphate.

When that day comes, the constitution of the caliphate will be sharia. Until then, sharia is to be applied as far as circumstances allow.

The most severe provisions of sharia are merely deactivated, suspended by international law and the balance of power.

No slavery, no infidel concubines, no dhimmis (they exist in practice; they are simply no longer called that).

So when Muslims in the West demand the application of sharia, they are demanding the replacement of Western constitutions with the constitution of a rival state, they are not simply demanding to live out their faith in private.

In the majority opinion, Barrett wrote:

Waving away attention to the limits on judicial power as a ‘mind-numbingly technical query,’ she offers a vision of the judicial role that would make even the most ardent defender of judicial supremacy blush.”
She continued:

“We will not dwell on JUSTICE JACKSON’s argument, which is at odds with more than two centuries’ worth of precedent, not to mention the Constitution itself. We observe only this: JUSTICE JACKSON decries an imperial Executive while embracing an imperial Judiciary.”

The Court ruled that district judges generally cannot issue nationwide injunctions that block federal policies across the entire country for parties not before the court.
