Last week, a 14-year-old student collapse and later died in a hospital due to her being subjected to severe punishment for missing Islamic morning prayer in a boarding school in Kano.

The poor girl was made to kneel on a rock under the scorching sun from morning till evening. Her request for water several times was rejected by the teacher according to the grieving mother.
