There’s a particular type of intellectually-inclined Protestant who has tradition-envy and sociological insecurity about their Protestant upbringing and so, in time, they go to Rome. I am convinced this journey stems primarily, though not exclusively, from a failure to do the reading. Reading Reformed Orthodoxy and the Reformed Scholastics will quickly disabuse the anxious Protestant that they must turn to Rome for intellectual depth.
@megbasham There are phenomenal debates available on Sermon Audio by James White ( @HwsEleutheroi )
They are on various dogmas of Rome (papal infallibility, the Eucharist, Mariology, etc. They’ve been very helpful to me over the years.
David French just got fooled by a satire account named after the evil organization in C.S. Lewis’s “That Hideous Strength” (the NICE) that is literally communicating with demons in the book 😂😂😂
Alysa Liu’s father was persecuted by the CCP for the Tiananmen Square protests and fled to America
His daughter became a world-class figure skater and refused to skate for the CCP when they tried to recruit her
She just won the gold medal for Team USA 🇺🇸
All Creatures Great and Small is a great show.
As a father of young children, here are the reasons I highly recommend watching it as a family:
1. It values marriage, family, and community.
Good things are celebrated as good in the show. Marriage and family are seen as things to be pursued not limitations on personal freedom. Rare for TV programming these days to not be subversive.
2. It celebrates ordinary faithful work.
The impact of the characters actually loving their neighbors through their work is depicted.
3. The main characters are typically virtuous
Honest, hard working men and respectful women are the norm in the show.
4. The setting is beautiful
Enough said
5. Loving your home is reinforced
The characters love their home. It’s not a thought in the world to despise the place God has given them.
Does anyone else watch it?
Never forget that Russell Moore, Ray Ortlund, and David French all believed Tim Walz was fit to fill the role that was one heartbeat away from the presidency.
Blind guides.
470 years ago today, protestants Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridley were burned at the stake for the preaching and proclaiming of the gospel. After being sentenced in his trial, Latimer thanked God for giving him a death that would glorify his God.
In the midst of his execution Latimer extolled Ridley: "Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out."
