@matthematician Drop me a line. Joined an industry data science team in January 2022 and feels amazing.
Short answers: self taught with the right materials, on the job training. pro: independent projects, con: the science is automatable (need to be artful too!).
How to mislead in science: hide raw data in supp material (SM).
Just had a dept-wide reading group of a recent Science paper on latitudinal/temperature trends in predation pressure (10.1126/science.abc4916). Paper claims simple clean patterns (fig) but where are the data???
can anyone recommend a modern undergrad math biology text? I love the classics (Edelstein-Keshet, deVries, Murray) but I feel they're too focused on model analysis rather than the holistic process of model construction + data comparison that current math bio often entails

@ZachWeiner More time. Aside from "typical" I like that she reaches the edge of an app's/game's ability to entertain her, usually the last level or feature, and I help her download more things. I'm curious when I'm on a screen, she's curious when she's on a screen.
I spent the morning reading Dijkstra’s 1972 Turing Lecture, “The Humble Programmer”, in which he points out that the job of programmers is not to “make programs” but to design classes of computations that display desired behavior. With this re-framing 1/n

Looking for your favorite papers/chapters on machine learning with continuous learning, continuous delivery, or continuous integration. Anyone inspired in that realm lately? Or conversely, depressed/upset? I'll accept entertained. Just teach me something. #ML#ACS#SIAM
