Here is a question for #AcademicTwitter - I am reading the 17th Century Chinese play The Peach Blossom Fan and it mentions the “philosopher’s stone”. I don’t know a ton about this concept but I am interested to know what the Chinese idea of this term would have been at that time
This is a super specific question for #AcademicTwitter - is the poem by Louis MacNeice “The Springboard” about a specific event in London? It seems like he is referencing a particular person but I can’t find anything on it. #poetry
I did it. Thanks @goodreads for this little bit of celebration. It’s the middle of July now so I can try to add to this number but 25 is important to me because if I read 25 a year for 35 years then I can get through my whole list. Now I can really start to make some progress.
I don’t go in for this sort of fiction often but a friend who I trust recommended it as a quick and entertaining read.
I read it in a day, and I really enjoyed it. I was totally engrossed in a way I didn’t expect. Nothing but Blackened Teeth. I may read more from @casskhaw
I’ve been tinkering with the idea of coming up with visual accompaniment to some of literature I have been reading - I started messing around with Dall- E Mini using some prompts.
