@andrewhesselden Literally all of that is still possible now.. How would them leaving benefit the UK though, because it’s Interesting that you want the government to put your self interest ahead of its own wellbeing as a collective.
@Fazzz_lfc@WestHamPlace Liverpool another one, who without bail outs via takeovers and writing off debts to owners would today be bust because they spent beyond their means and gained trophies/fans from doing so which they again benefit from today.
@Fazzz_lfc@WestHamPlace Again, incorrect.. United for example nearly went bust in their early history, bailed out by a chairman who injected funds into all areas of the club including the MUJAC which directly linked to the busby babes setup. The fan base today they live off is rooted in that funding.
@DazzaDavies@TheKopChronicle All built upon a chairman putting his own money in unrestricted to save the club and build infrastructure and fan base for which they benefit today. Today’s owners are restricted from doing the same as United did and face sanctions when doing so.
@GeorgeFoulkes So a new referendum is pointless then, why bother asking for one, just run the next general election and vote based on that parties own specific future EU policy.
@CL9268@11intheMid@KeJaBanks@Millar_Colin ‘Vast sums’ is relative, Man United and Liverpool have both been nearly bankrupted in their past and bailed out by rich owners, with money put into the infastructure. Their very status today is built upon overspending beyond their means to gain the following they now gain from.
@11intheMid@DarkKnightArya@johnmacintos00@WestHamPlace No they don't, if you're taking City away through these rules, there is literally no one to match the spending power of those big teams, you might get the odd season or period anomaly, but sustained challenge will be impossible as clubs aren't being allowed to grow fast enough.
@11intheMid@KeJaBanks@Millar_Colin James W. Gibson invested lots of his own money to save United from liquidation. Dec31, the club was completely bankrupt, unable to pay players, about to fold. Gibson funded all manner of things like MUJAC which led to 'the Busby babes. Foundations were built on a wealthy owner.
@11intheMid@DarkKnightArya@johnmacintos00@WestHamPlace The red cartel don’t need to, they have the monopoly now on income from previous success, the game is totally different now from even back a few decades ago and without vast income and investment, sustained challenge to those few clubs is now impossible.
@11intheMid@KeJaBanks@Millar_Colin Literally every club has, just over a longer period of time. All clubs infastructure and fan based were rooted in chairman putting their own money in until the club could generate its own from the fan base and sponsorship accrued by that success.
@11intheMid@KeJaBanks@Millar_Colin The rules of that time allowed them to build the same way city have, why is it suddenly a closed shop for everyone to do it the way the red cartel did, spending money to build the infastructure and then live off the fruits of that… City have done no different, just quicker.
@DarkKnightArya@johnmacintos00@WestHamPlace I mean, they are literally being forced to ‘cheat’ if they want to be successful as the restrictions don’t allow for sustained challenge to the red cartel. You can argue ‘no one is forced to try and compete for trophies’, but how is that good for football?
@AleksTarasevic@johnmacintos00@WestHamPlace It's been a circus for decades, City didn't change that, they just made the best of it whilst the big boys tried to restrict the challenge to remain the ringmaster.
@andyburnham You know the feeling when you could get a cheap flight but now it's twice the price because you subsidise others too cheap to pay to sit together or pay for appropriate luggage, yet still have to pay anyway under the new system when it's all included in a higher price fare.
@johnmacintos00@WestHamPlace Post something then go hide behind the block button? child-like behaviour!
The owners input was an investment, City don't need input, they literally create their own money now, literally all businesses & infrastructure have been built this way, City just did it faster.
@johnmacintos00@WestHamPlace The owners ARE the club, they literally own it, if they gift money to the club accounts that is the businesses means to spend.
@Fazzz_lfc@WestHamPlace Acting like those three haven't spend vast fortunes more building that infastructure up is wild. Times have moved on, the current rules negate challenge for the red cartel whether long or short term.
@EtHE1s@WestHamPlace How do you think they built the infrastructure of their clubs and fanbases to do so, and why are current clubs not allowed the same pathway?
