@Jasp3r_0 Drake had the loudest, hypest album rollout in music history just so he could drop two throwaway albums made to get him out of his UMG deal. I’m amazed he didn’t lose half his fanbase; shit’s disrespectful
@GothamCityGoon Random thought, but I’m worried that it’s BECOMING a real place in regards to hip hop
Considering the biggest album release of the year was pretty much written with a single-minded goal of generating talking on twitter and twitch, instead of making good music
@PalesaQuin As a Kendrick fan, Drake in the early 2010s completely shifted the public perception (and practice) of hip-hop. He had his inspirations, but Take Care changed rap music more than Kendrick’s entire discography put together.
Doesn’t make him the better artist tho
@DivorcedDadCore@_SHAAMUUU_ Even then, what does “made without soul” mean?
Like, the Michael movie was WRITTEN without soul, but we can’t disregard Jafaar’s performance, the direction, or the choreography because of that. It’s basically impossible to have a movie where literally no one involved cares
@Not_Leksa I can’t really explain it, but there’s this weird belief among a lot of people that being able to explain what you like or why you like it is “thinking about it too hard” or “pseudo-intellectual” and it makes legitimate conversations about music really infuriating
@mfdoomstan1 Current rap album of the decade (The Forever Story), extremely consistent discography otherwise, unique and interesting style, tons of great features… the only question is how far he is into the top 50. Top 25 is not crazy at all.
@idekwistb Yes. And Gone with the Wind is the greatest movie ever. Anyone who calls out it’s blatant Confederate propaganda is simply too small-minded to understand
