I listened to Erika Kirk’s full speech at the memorial, and I want to share a few thoughts that came to me while live streaming the event. This is not political.

First, I should say that I grew up as a Muslim in a Muslim country. I don’t know enough about Christianity to say if what I witnessed is rooted in faith or culture. But what struck me most was how, even though death is heavy and this was by nature a sad occasion, the entire event carried a celebratory spirit that honored life.

That contrast hit me deeply. In Islam, even though we believe that good people go to heaven, the relationship with God is taught through fear. Funerals are overwhelmingly sad, often filled with warnings of the terrifying first night in the grave. Growing up hearing that, and then witnessing people celebrate life, speak of God’s love, and remember someone through the impact he had on others; it felt so refreshing, so positive.

Second, I was profoundly moved by @MrsErikaKirk’s words. I cannot fathom the strength it takes to stand and deliver such a meaningful speech after losing the love of your life. But even more than that, the grace it takes to forgive the very person who destroyed your world. I cannot imagine myself standing on a stage, sending love to those who cheered your husband’s murder, or inviting others to spread God’s love in response because, as she said, “we do not respond to hate with hate.” That is powerful beyond words.

Again, I am ignorant when it comes to Christianity, but if this is what it truly embodies, then I am envious of those who get to experience that feeling.

Father, You say You are near to the brokenhearted. Be near now, God. Please. We can’t make sense of this. We can’t fix it. But You are still the God who sees. You are still the Shepherd who leaves the ninety-nine to find the one. You are still the One who calmed the wind and said to the waves, “Peace, be still.” Say it again, Lord. Speak peace over Texas.

Bind up wounds that no human can reach. Sit in the ashes with the grieving. Carry those who can’t take another step. And if we, as Your people, can be Your hands, Your tears, or Your comfort, use us.

We don’t understand this. But we trust that one day, every tear will be wiped away. Until then, hold every hurting soul close to Your chest. Don’t let go.

When are we going to stop second-guessing every step that Trump makes and just trust in the process and the man we elected to lead us?

I am a man of faith. I have faith that the Lord has his hands on us and God is in control.

I see Trump as a flawed human being, like the rest of us. I certainly do not put him on a pedestal morally. However, I do have faith that he is the best person to lead our country right now. His intentions are right for our country and its people.

Even if you don't have faith, at least we can agree on this point.

You are the Sovereign Lord. The ruler of the nations, defender of truth, and the One who holds the hearts of kings in Your hand. Today, as war drums echo across the Middle East, we call on You with urgency and faith.

Father, we pray that even in the midst of this conflict between Israel and Iran, You would do what only You can do: turn the hearts of men toward Jesus Christ. Let the shaking of the earth awaken souls to the gospel. Use the chaos not for destruction, but for divine disruption so that many, both in the West and the East, would look up and cry out, “What must I do to be saved?”

Lord, Your Word says in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives.” We ask for that peace now, not only between nations, but in the hearts of the hurting. Let the fire of war be overcome by the fire of revival.

We pray for the leaders of Israel, Iran, and all who are entangled in this conflict. Break their pride, Lord. Bring wisdom where there is recklessness, humility where there is arrogance, and divine restraint where anger threatens to boil over. You alone can turn swords into plowshares and bring beauty from ashes.

Shield the innocent…children, families, and the displaced. Guard the vulnerable. Guide the lost. And may Your Church rise up in this hour, bold in truth, rich in mercy, and unshakable in mission.

Father, we long for the day when Your Word in Isaiah 2:4 is fulfilled: “Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore.” Until then, let Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth, in Iran, in Israel, as it is in heaven.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus,
