A haiku writing travel addict, I have an itchy soul that needs constant scratching and I'm convinced there are universes I have hallucinated into becoming.
Your brittle eyes break
ice-shards
drop down as
salt pin-pricks
on my tongue
turn into
mustard-sour words
that escape
fuming
and fill the air between us.
You turn away.

He awakens smiling
straining playfully
against silk ties.
In the flickering shadows
of soft-glowing candles
his eyes scream
at the muted gleam
of the brass #idol
held #perpendicular
in her raised arms.

One everyday,
the #idol stepped down
from her pedestal
and walked away
lightening
until she was
unfurled
untied by the breeze
unending
like the ribbon streets
so far beneath her flying feet.

Some nights I imagined
the #conversation
choreographed a groping dance
for groggy fingers
sound-mixed bedspring squeaks
a raspy “Hello?” and “Dead?”
When the call came
my “Hello” was too careless.
my “Oh,” adlibbed, too flat
and I didn’t say
“Dead?”
