Hoe gaan dit my broer? Lekker!
This is where we break from the usual programming to bring the knowledge of story design to an under represented community in South Africa.
We'd like to welcome Stewitt to the Range Assistants Crew. Born in the real parts of Cape Town. Short, funny, and a throwback to the storytellers of old.
Stewitt will be assisting us in an upcoming story design phase for an exciting concept brewing at Range Studios.
We'd love to hear from you.
Hosh! Hoe lyk dit...?
Hey!
Today, we take a break from production to focus on incentives. TV and film incentives are an essential tool to drive the local SA industry and career progression for talent.
Each production is a moving factory and a live classroom. A strong incentive transforms budgets into paychecks, shoot days into apprenticeships, and projects into credits. These credits let a runner become a coordinator, a PA become an AD, a junior editor become a lead, and a new actor build a reel that gets seen. DTIC incentives support production and jobs, build skills, and drive local procurement. They keep the entire pipeline going, not just one film.
If an incentive fails, the damage is immediate: production stops, freelancers lose work, suppliers close, and talent leaves for other countries or industries. The current crisis makes it harder for talent in South Africa to sustain their careers.
We urge action: Fix the incentive system now. Restore adjudications, clear backlogs, and set firm timelines. Commit publicly to reinstate incentives, securing livelihoods, developing skills, and reinforcing long-term industry credibility for sustained investment.
We're in Pretoria today, representing our industry and advocating for immediate improvements to the incentive system.
We'd love to hear your thoughts.

Welcome to 2026. What a year ahead with the announcement for the new James Bond, the new Supergirl film, Avengers Doomsday, wars, fights, unemployment, gaslighting, breakaway provinces, bills, AI taking jobs, corrupt cops, fast cars, villainous corporations, cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria.
We're ready for the throwdown. Got Range to go the distance?

Time to pretend?
That's always the story, isn't it? We're searching for meaning in things that have none. Saving time when it doesn't need saving. Living life like we're meant to live it. Pretending as if we care, when we shouldn't, and staring down the dog (or cat) like it understands us.
Here's to a creative, sunny, and love-filled Saturday.

With a healthy and growing supply of movie analyses in our Range Search Engine - ArtSearch (TM), daily film content, development resources, toolkits, and our open artist support community, we believe the future of emerging talent lies within underserved communities across the digital divide.
We are proud to introduce the
The #ETPP expands our existing system capabilities to support funding and acceleration of creative projects and careers. Rewarding verified participation by creators and fans strengthens the Studios' sustainability narrative. It furthers our intent to integrate into ecosystems that address fundamental issues such as access, opportunity, and the creation of lasting careers for emerging talent in film, music, and sports.
๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐ ๐ถ๐ ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐๐ง๐ฃ๐ฃ?
The #ETPP complements existing asset-layer projects on the BSC (BNB Smart Chain) that are pioneering the integration of performance-based cultural activities and real-world assets (RWA) into art and intellectual property (IP) within the #Web3 ecosystem. The narrative centres on activating a cultural economy by turning engagement, showcases, premieres, exhibitions, and creator campaigns into tokenised, verifiable value streams to benefit emerging talent and their audience.
We are excited about what the future holds and look forward to sharing more as we progress into 2026.

We'd love to hear from you.

How do you split your personal growth from what you attempted to build in 2025? Whether that was creating something that you genuinely believe in, versus adding endless product features planned in a PowerPoint that made you sleep better at night.
2025 turned out to be a good year for connecting and collaborating. What really stood out were the genuine connections that endured beyond technology and a barrage of corporate announcements about what's to come over the next few years. For us, it was connecting with new and old friends, seeing the world through someone else's eyes, and trying to fit into the wrong-sized boots.
Instead of a Range Studios year-one report on how many agents we built, our audience growth, the number of scripts or storyboards we produced, the number of digital channels or departments launched, or the number of new story breakdowns in our search technology, we'd like to affirm instead our belief that the creative path chosen by emerging artists continues to invigorate us. It drives the choices we make to lace up our boots every day. 2025 was undoubtedly a year of foundations.
2026 brings new challenges, risks, and a mountain of fun. We look forward to walking the journey with you. We thank our supporters, new personal connections, old friends, and a community that walks the path of enlightenment and grit.
How do you split your personal growth from what you're building? You don't. Building what you believe in, collaborating to develop new relationships, and finding your centre are inextricably linked. We wish you the best on your journey in 2026. May it be filled with abundance, happiness, tests, and joy.
Sincerely,
Team Range

Hey Rangers!
We've recently returned from the inaugural BRIDGE Summit in Abu Dhabi.
BRIDGE Summit was a first-of-its-kind event that served as both a conference and an exhibition for the entire media and entertainment industry. Over three days, 1000s of creators, brands, and leaders converged at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi.
The mission was clear: ๐๐น๐ถ๐ด๐ป, ๐ฃ๐น๐ฎ๐ป, and ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ผ๐ณ๐ณ the next evolution for creators, decision makers, and industry leaders. Collaboration is key in the industry, and the value of relationships was not overlooked.
A string of esteemed media leaders, legends, and representatives from the UAE government covered topics on AI, media, picture, publishing, music, sports, and the future of the creator economy. During the event, we were fortunate to create a free space in our mobile app that covered the daily session topics and discussions in detail.
We'd love to hear from you if you'd like to learn more about how the event shapes the future of media and entertainment.
Hey folks!
Should creatives care that studios coast on borrowed universes? Disney is not renewing certain music rights for Guardians of the Galaxy, while Amazon and Netflix are implementing AI-driven strategies. You can pour significant amounts of funding into a franchise, build it into a cultural juggernaut, and wake up one day without the keys to your own kingdom. That's the trap of licensed IP. Renting, not owning.
These licensing nightmares burn small studios, so they're doubling down on "safe" bets: anything with built-in recognition, whilst ensuring content remains original. AI is whispering in executives' ears, promising to generate "original" content at a fraction of the cost. Why take a risk on an unknown writer's brilliant idea when an algorithm can spit out something that checks all the commercial boxes?
The digital landscape we find ourselves in is both a threat and an opportunity for emerging talent. New voices don't break through by playing it safe. They break through because they bring something no one's seen before, something that can't be replicated by a machine trained on everything that's already been done. It's about vision, risk, failure, and the kind of storytelling that actually moves culture forward.
We'd love to get your thoughts. To AI, or not, or a bit of both?
