Completely commend NFU Mutual for supporting police initiatives but more support directly for farmers at "grassroots" level is needed.

Generic advice only is not sufficient to help farmers help the police in the collective fight against rural crime.

A side issue... "Most sensible farmers regulate themselves"

"Most" is all well and good, but is no guarantee that there are NO risks to the general public.

So how do you guarantee there are NO risks to the general public?

Regulate.

@1GarethWynJones I do think this is a disproportionate response to a low risk situation.

Fisherfolk and farmers tend to be a lot more active, aka 'fitter', than the average HGV driver.

Curious what the actual motivation/agenda for this regulation is. HSE jobs worth, or something more sinister?

@1GarethWynJones HGV drivers require medicals from 40, every five years.

I think it becomes annual later in life, but not sure. The difference is, HGV drivers put other road users at risk. Fisherman/women/people 🤷‍♂️ put themselves at risk, and I suppose any rescue effort too.

If you are not notified straight away, then it is just as good as a sleeping security guard (we don't sell them either!)
