Freed Palestinian captive Ayman Kammamji’s testimony on Israeli prison guards torturing Palestinian captive Mohammed Sharif Rizq Al-Asali to death:

“In short, this is my story with Palestinian captive Mohammed Sharif Rizq Al-Asali from Gaza, whom I saw with my own eyes being killed in front of me while I was held in Ashkelon Prison.

I heard shouting, swearing and insults. I quickly rushed to the small opening in the wall known as the “window.” I managed to peek through a tiny hole inside it.

I saw a group of prison guards dragging and assaulting a captive. I immediately knew he was from Gaza because the beatings and abuse were always more brutal against Gaza captives.

I saw them take him into the prison clinic. Less than 15 minutes later, I heard shouting outside, followed by celebrations, congratulations and guards patting each other on the back.

I wondered what had happened.

Then I saw them carry his body out on a stretcher.

He was killed in cold blood.

Afterward, the prison administration, including the prison director, her deputy director, intelligence officers, security officials, the duty officer and prison guards, gathered to congratulate the guard who killed Mohammed.

They kept telling him, ‘Ata Givor,’ meaning, ‘You are a hero.’”
