आज वे कटघरे में खड़े हैं।👩‍⚖️

दृश्य नाटकीय है, अदालत भी बनावटी है, पर पात्र सारे सच्चे हैं। हँसी इसलिए आती है क्योंकि मन जानता है, यह मुक़दमा झूठा है, यह सज़ा असली नहीं।

पर एक बात असली है।🍀

चार घंटे से वे खड़े हैं। बाक़ी सब बैठे हैं। बाक़ी लोग बीच-बीच में बोलते हैं, अपनी-अपनी पर्चियाँ पढ़ते हैं, अपनी लिखी हुई पंक्तियाँ दोहराते हैं।
और वे?

न कोई स्क्रिप्ट, न कोई तैयारी, न कोई काग़ज़। 💫
बस एक सतत प्रवाह, जैसे किसी स्रोत से शब्द नहीं, करुणा बह रही हो।

यह पहली बार नहीं है। 🤷

इतिहास गवाह है, जब-जब कोई शिक्षक सचमुच शिक्षक हुआ है, वह दूसरों को बचाने के लिए स्वयं कटघरे में खड़ा हुआ है। उसने प्रश्न अपने ऊपर लिए, ताकि शिष्य उत्तर तक पहुँच सके।
आज भी वही हो रहा है।
वे हमें जगाने के लिए अपने शरीर को कष्ट दे रहे हैं, घंटों खड़े हैं, लगातार बोल रहे हैं, ऊर्जा लुटा रहे हैं।
लेकिन आश्चर्य देखिए 🔥

चेहरे पर थकान नहीं, मुस्कान है। 😊
कर्तव्य नहीं, प्रेम है।❤️
उपदेश नहीं, अपनापन है।🫂

जैसे कोई पिता अपने बच्चे को अँधेरे रास्ते से निकालने के लिए स्वयं धूप में खड़ा हो जाए।
वे वह पिता हैं जो जन्म नहीं देता, जागरण देता है।

India, currently the world’s 5th-largest economy, is on track to become the 4th-largest.

Yet, in 2025, 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗸𝘀 and manholes, often without protective gear, to scrub filth with their bare hands.

Meanwhile, 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗲𝘀 have eliminated this inhuman practice altogether.

𝗧𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗹𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗮, which gained independence a decade after India (1957).

Before that, Chinese migrant workers there were forced into 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗰𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴.

But after independence, Malaysia’s government made a conscious choice to invest heavily in the mechanisation of sewage systems.

Interestingly, this 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀𝗻’𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗺, as has been the case in India.

Instead, it was a 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵 to position the country as a tourist destination, notes researcher Ambarish Karunanithin, who has studied Malaysia’s sewage model in depth.

Alongside mechanisation, Malaysia launched nationwide surveys and outreach programs to 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, giving people time to adapt to stricter norms.

“𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗶𝗳 𝗮 𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘆, workers will not enter it, 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗱,"says Karunanithin.

This shows the technology and know-how to end manual scavenging already exist.

The real question is: does the political will to solve this exist with equal force?

As Karunanithin bluntly puts it:

“Governments here know there’s a 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. If that wasn’t the case, they’d have used their brains to redesign the system.”

Sadly, such a critical issue has almost vanished from mainstream media discussions.

As Acharya Prashant repeatedly reminds us, people need to awaken to these truths.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘀𝘁, but unless 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲𝘀 and demands change, the system will remain unmoved.
