Tragedy either paralyzes or provokes a call to action. Even in the depths of sorrow Israelis are coming together to help in whatever way they can from the small to the large. A strong sense of community is a defining value of Israel.

I'm not going to comment on what people are doing but some things are heroic. All the while having to defend themselves from not only more terrorism but also being framed as aggressors when it's clear how this all went down. It's quite convenient many people are side-stepping that to go to their own political agenda and whataboutisms. It's the same playbook again and again.

Roughly 10 years ago I wrote Why Israel? https://t.co/6U6bRP4LuR and the core message remains the same - Community is everything. One day I'll write a follow up because there are many more things I've learned over the years but I'll wait till I go back to Israel again.
