I love GenAI for writing, but it continually frustrates me. I need to remember that it has the intelligence and enthusiasm of an intern.

Today, I gave it a conversation transcript between two CEOs and asked for highlights. It did fine with that. Then I asked for an outline, which looked good until I got into the details.

It came up with ideas that really weren’t there. “The integration of these two products led to XYZ results.” Looks great in an outline, but the integration never actually happened. So, I tell the AI it was wrong. It apologizes and gives me replacement text that isn’t compelling.

In many ways, AI speeds things up. But it also really slows things down.
