Proud dad, husband and Canadian who wishes the last 10 yrs under the Liberals were a bad dream. Opinions entirely my own and probably embarrass my children.
@GadSaad Upwards of 45% of new jobs in the last decade in Canada were in government. Compare that to 6% in the US.
Funding Canada's bureaucratic beast = huge taxes, and Canadians don't even blink at paying north of 50%.
Cut the bureaucracy and tax people no more than 25%.
@TristinHopper A slight improvement that would yield the same result, unfortunately. Teenagers like "free" stuff with little thought to how it's funded.
@MAGA_Cultlosers@ezralevant Yes, they are. But go ahead and tell me that five in less than five months isn't calculated.
And, yes, I guess I'm a dipshit for not buying into anything but this being a concerted effort by the Liberals to secure their majority -- outside of an election
@LauraPratt33@AriGoldkind@cpc One NDP from Nunavut, so she wasn't really trying to "get away" from Poilievre. And those four CPC? If they hated their leader so much couldn't they have run as Liberals one short year ago? Oh right, they all knew they'd have zero chance of being elected.
@ryangerritsen Really, it's just a continuation of Liberal schemes to maintain and expand their hold on power. Remember all those unholy alliances between Justin and Jagmeet? Either way, it's slimy.
@_scottreid Actually it means the Liberals will stop at nothing to attain a majority and ram through its mandate. Democracy be damned.
They did it with NDP "coalitions" under Trudeau, and now they're just getting that majority through shady, back door deals.
@gregbradyx Two floor crossings to the Conservatives in nine years under Harper. Five, and counting, since late November under Carney.
No one can convince me this is normal or that the Liberals aren't gaming the system. Democracy in Canada is dead.
@rupasubramanya This isn't what "winning" looks like, and you know it.
It's a concerted effort by the Liberals to snatch a majority they didn't earn, using any trick in the book. What's surprising is that Trudeau and his minions didn't think of it sooner.
@kinsellawarren Smart play is to join the Liberal ranks himself. Heck, just have the entire party cross the floor.
There's no point in having elections really, if this is the outcome a year later, so why don't the Conservatives just fold their tent and form a Uniparty with Liberals?
@ryangerritsen I feel for the voters in Sarnia who've voted Conservative since forever. This isn't what they chose just one year ago.
Democracy in Canada is dead.
